Our Programs

Every Child Deserves The Opportunity To Learn

Health & Nutrition

The organization works to continuously improve women’s and adolescents’ knowledge of and access to safe healthcare and practices for themselves and their children, key activities include; Child growth monitoring; Early Childhood Care for Development (ECCD); Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH); HIV/AIDs education and prevention; improved child nutrition; and Improved maternal health. Immediate past achievements include:

  • Constructed and handed over a health facility to the government, increasing access to health services for over 5,000 people living in Chilanga district where the facility was constructed.
  • Trained over 200 active Community Health workers (CHWs) and caregivers in Early Care for Child Development (ECCD) in Kafue and Chilanga districts.
  • Identified over 300 malnourished children through the monthly Growth Monitoring Promotion (GMP) sessions and facilitated the referral and linkage to nutrition services.
  • Improved Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) by encouraging all families in our operation areas to have all 5 basic needs (latrine/ toilet, hand wash, drink clean water, kitchen hygiene, bathing facilities)
Youth & Livelihood

The organization works to increase knowledge, skill and confidence among youths through multiple activities including payment of tuition fees in order to increase access vocational training; entrepreneurial trainings within the established groups; funding for existing businesses and job linkages. These activities have led to improved livelihood by reducing the impact major challenges that youths face such as adverse effects of climate change on agricultural output, unemployment, poor marketing of produce and poor financial illiteracy. However with more funding more can be done. Immediate past achievements include:

  • Paid tuition fee for over 100 youths to access tertiary education.
  • Facilitating a cash Pass on Gifts initiative among 100 youths.
  • Establishing and strengthening saving groups among youths and care givers.
  • Formation and strengthening of youth boards.
Education

The organization works with the government’s Ministry of General Education (MoGE) to create and improve existing learning spaces for children in order to the retention of teachers and learners in schools which in turn leads to effective child grade progression. Immediate past achievements include:

  • Purchase of scholarly materials for (books, pens, pencils and uniforms for over 3,000 children.
  • Construction of 34 classrooms, purchase of pupil 325 desks and 15office tables and chairs for school administrators.
Child Protection

This is a cross-cutting activity in all the programs of the organization, the organization has further taken the lead in the formation and training of district and community child protection committees, facilitating the holding of community dialogue meetings, support to community led initiatives in child protection and greatly participated in data collection on violation of children’s rights in Kafue and Chilanga districts of Zambia. Immediate past achievements include:

  • Facilitated the establishment and strengthening of 12 community-based Child Protection Committees.
  • Facilitated community mass sensitization of over 19,000 community members on child protection issues.
